I need to play!!!

I feel as though my beloved Blackbirds are flying south for the winter. Very well, I suppose. I hope to start up another project after this jumble-fuck of a semester is over with. I want to slap, dammit! Few things sound cooler than a clean drag-triplet and I want to dial that shit in!

Playing and absorbing music

I thrive to pull inspiration from many artists, most of whom played through the 50's and 60's. Bill Black is one of my driving forces, but there are many others from whom I find inspiration.

Kilby and way the fuck out of tune!

So we played at Kilby to a great crowd. Sadly, I was out of tune, due to the humidity and temp change from our practice space to hot and humid Kilby Ct. I tuned her before the set, but she got pissed, and my G and D went flat within the first 2 songs. Lesson learned: get a Boss floor tuner and use it religiously. The upright bass is a very fickle instrument to play. I'm beginning to learn that she isn't the same lady one stage as she is at home. I need to pay a lot more attention to her playing live because I think she gets more stage fright than I do. I also realized that I need to practice my basic scales on a daily basis. I hit a lot of blue notes that shouldn't have been there. I also realize that I am my worst critic, but if I can please myself, I will please them all.
